Norsk Tipping, a Norwegian-based lottery, sports and instant games company, has appointed Tonje Sagstuen as its acting CEO, effective from 1 September.

This appointment comes after the former CEO, Thor Gjermund Eriksen, stepped down after less than a year in his role.

Eriksen announced that he would leave the company to become the CEO of Bane Nor, the Norwegian railway network on 31 August.

Sagstuen will step up and take on the responsibilities of acting CEO from 1 September until a replacement can be found.

Sylvia Brustad, Norsk Tipping Chairman, said: “The process of hiring Thor Gjermund Eriksen's successor is underway. We must have a thorough process and use the time necessary to provide the company with a good manager.

“I am happy that Tonje has agreed to lead the company until a new Managing Director can take over.”

Sagstuen has been a member of Norsk Tipping since 2014 and is currently the Director of Responsibility,Play Casino Online Society and Communications.

Prior to this, Sagstuen was a Chief Editor at Oppland Arbeiderblad, a media production and regional newspaper company.

The topic of Norsk Tipping appointments has been highlighted a few times in the media recently, so it’s fair to say that the appointment of the next permanent CEO, will be one that’s watched carefully.

It was reported recently that Norway’s Culture Minister, Anette Trettebergstuen, was questioned over Norsk Tipping Board appointments.

This was following an investigation that found she had chosen her former colleagues for roles on the Board, Thomas Breen and Sylvia Brustad.
